Organization at a glance
Sangkalpa Protibondhi Nari O Shishu Unnyan Sangstha is a Disabled Peoples Organization (DPO) working in Magura district of Bangladesh. The organization was established in 2003. Initially, a federation was formed by organizing small groups of persons with disabilities at the village level in Magura district with the help of ADD International Bangladesh. At one stage, women leaders with disabilities realized the importance of organizing a separate organization of women with disabilities. From then on, federations were formed at the union level by organizing small groups of women with disabilities at the village level. From which the organization of women with disabilities is formed at the district level. One hundred percent of the members of the organization are women with disabilities. According the bylaws of the organization there are 7 members in the Executive Committee.
The organizational activities are implemented by the staff and volunteers following the directives of the General Secretary Through the direct involvement of the women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote rights of persons with disabilities and improving their lives with supports from government and non-government organizations. Besides, the organization is striving for partnership with the mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs through ensuring active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities as well as providing capacity building and technical assistance.
